While working out ultimately helps you burn fat, you need to avoid going longer than usual. Try to stick with cardio routines around 20 to 30 minutes long, but at a higher intensity. Any longer and you already lose the value of any additional work put in. Plus, you'll only make yourself tired, which will slow your metabolism down.
